While most school networks should have PowerPoint available on all computers, Publisher may be less available. If you do have publisher, consider basic newsletter and brochure templates for your students. This type of application is particularly useful for students who have a greater command of the language, in my opinion Grade 10 or older. Travel brochures or newsletters which can have a variety of genre such as letters to the editor, advice column, crosswords etc.can have a very professional look created by your students using Publisher.
Powerpoint, on the other hand can be created by all classes.

Task 3:
Learn more about these applications by progressing through these self paced tutorials and creating a PowerPoint presentation that you can use with one of your French classes. Email your presentations to me. (You may then wish to create another example using Publisher if this is available.)

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL INFORMATION:EACH OF THE FOLLOWING LINKS DO NOT OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO USE THE "BACK" ON THE TOOLBAR TO RETURN TO THE FRENCH TECH PAGE. ALTERNATIVELY YOU CAN COPY AND PASTE EACH SITE IN A NEW WINDOW.

Ideas to think about...........
Your students (even primary students) have probably used powerpoint before. Once you have become familiar with this application use a specific theme for your initial implementation in the LOTE program - I have had grade 6 and 7 students create a slide show about animals or weather with success. Instead of the traditional "writing a booklet" assignment consider changing it to creating a slide presentation.
