WebQuests
"A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking atthe levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation." Initially you may prefer to use existing webquests. There are many of these available and you can access them from your reviews and publications relatingto FFL.Entering webquests into your search engine will also produce a list you can investigate. (I have found that COPERNIC is an excellent multi search engine - when downloading you are asked if you wish to have another language also..... see more about this at their website, www.copernic.com) Task 5: 1. Look at five of the following webquests and comment on their degree of usefulness in your program.2. Search the web for another 5 webquests for your Frenchclass and give a "critique"on each one.IMPORTANT TECHNICAL POINT:EACH OF THE FOLLOWING SITES WILL NOT OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW SO YOU MUSTUSE THE "BACK" ICON ON THE TOOLBAR TO RETURN TO THE FRENCH-TECH PAGE.A Comparative Study (San Diego & Biarritz)http://edweb.sdsu.edu/triton/SDBiarritz/SDBiarritzUnit.html Allons en France http://www.oswego.org/staff/mkaleta/web/webquest.htm Basque Country http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Olympus/6360/basque.htmlBon Appétit!http://www.scs.k12.tn.us/STT99_WQ/STT99/Cordova_HS/whitey/yvettewhite/bon_appetit.htm Create a Travel Brochurehttp://www.beth.k12.pa.us/schools/wwwclass/kgrammes/kgwebquest/kgwebquest.htm Discover France http://www.south.ecasd.k12.wi.us/class/french/main.htmlFrench Cooperative Learning Projecthttp://www.germantownacademy.org/Academics/US/ModLang/french/frques5h/frenques.htm French Speaking Countries Web Questhttp://cte.jhu.edu/techacademy/fellows/hintz/webquest2/sdhindex.htmlJoan of Arc http://teacher.scholastic.com/webquest/wrldhist/whjoan.htm L'Architecture gothiquehttp://nths.newtrier.k12.il.us/academics/faculty/~koernerr/WEBQUEST/webq..htm Le Maghreb http://greaux.www.50megs.com/maghreb.html Les Cathédrales http://www2.lhric.org/ramapo/shs/virtual/cthdrls.htmLes Pays francophoneshttp://www.awrsd.org/oak/Courses%20&%20Homework/World%20Languages/Fair/madame_fairs_french_1_webquest.htmLes Voyageurs du Québechttp://www.milton.k12.vt.us/WebQuests/SChristensen/quebec_webquest.htmMasterpiece: French Impressionismhttp://www.cvesd.k12.ca.us/jl/Classrooms/art/impreart.htmMusée de Beaux Arts (Belleville)http://www.geocities.com/Paris/LeftBank/9806/belleville.htmlParis http://www.germantownacademy.org/academics/US/ModLang/french/french1/Voyage au Québec http://www.gecdsb.on.ca/sub/schools/elem/oakwood/picard/

The next step of course is for you to create your own webquests. Lots of useful information is available at Bernie Dodge's web page. There is an excellent template available for you to use with any age student.
Ideas to think about...... Your school may wish to consider the WebQuest information available from "Web and Flow". Check out their site...........
